Applications for the 2023/2024 Chevening scholarship are now
open
Chevening happens to be the United Kingdom government's
international scholarship program.
Which is funded by the foreign commonwealth, development officer, and
partner organization as we offer awards to study in the UK for one year on a fully
funded master's degree course.
Successfully Chevening students come from a diverse range

Required Documents
All the Chevening applicants must submit their education
documents, references, and one unconditional UK university offer
Selection notification and timeline
Applicants will receive email updates about their
application status at each step of the selection process. You can also check
your status by logging into the portal using your registration details.
Applicants are advised to stay calm if they don’t get any
notification as regards their scholarship success owing to the fact that
the scholarship board always receives a large number of applicants each year.
It will also be wrong to contact the British embassy or high
commission with the issue of application inquiries
Chevening scholarship Guideline
If you are shortlisted for the Chevening scholarship interview,
you will be requested to attend the interview in your home country where the
British embassy or high commission has their representative.
Before the interview you might naturally feel nervous,
always remember that for you to make it to the interview stage is a big success
and you are among the strongest candidates.
During the interview, you’re requested to demonstrate the reason you should be selected for a scholarship
and why you should join Chevening. Make sure you will be available for an interview during the global interview period.
Booking your Chevening scholarship interview
Upon selection, you will receive an email with instructions on how to book your interview. Interview slots are available on the
basis of first come first serve, it will be nice if you book your slot as soon
as possible. Once you have been scheduled for an interview, you will receive a
booking confirmation email and your slot cannot be changed
Chevening scholarship applicants will be interviewed by the
embassy or high commission from the country or territory of the award. Other
necessary and practical interviews can take place online for those applying for
awards. In the year 2021 due to COVID-19, all the interviews took place online
in many countries and territories and it was confident that the applicants
were provided with a fair and smooth interview process in this way.

will receive further details including confirmation of whether the interview in
your country will be online or not
Before attending the Interview
Prior to attending your interview, you will be requested to
upload the following documents to the online application system
Education documents- this comprises your original
certificates and transcript in their original language
- Two reference letters
- A short biography that tells more about you
- Preparation for
the interview
You will make to make available the following documents for
your interview
National ID/Passport
In some countries or territories, additional documents may be
requested. If need be, you will be informed about this in the email
inviting you to the interview.
Chevening scholarship Interview
The interview will be a competency-based panel assessment
conducted in English.
The interview panel will comprise representatives from
the British embassy or high commission, who will use global Chevening criteria
to asses your answers.
You will be asked different questions discussing some of the pieces of information provided in the applicant form.
The panel will ask a question that will help you explains
your personal and professional goals and how Chevening can help facilitate the
achievement of your goal. Your course of choice will also be discussed and you
will be asked to provide an update on your applications.
What should you expect after going for the interview?
All Chevening scholarship applicants will be informed of the
outcome of their global interview period from early-mid June. You are also advised
not to contact your local British embassy or high commission as updates on
application status cannot be provided earlier.
You should not wait for your interview outcome before you
apply for your university courses, you should apply for all three courses as
early as possible. Any other unconditional offers received should be uploaded to
the online application system as soon as possible
Eligibility
General eligibility requirement for the Chevening fellowship
program
To be eligible for a Chevening scholarship program you must:
Be a citizen of a fellowship-eligible country or
territory
Show the potential to rise to a position of leadership
Demonstrate the personal, intellectual, and interpersonal
attributes that manifest this potential
Ready to return to your country of origin at the end of the
period of the fellowship
Have a postgraduate level qualification or its equivalent
professional training or experience in a relevant area at the time of applying for
this scholarship
Must meet all program-specific fellowship eligibility
requirements
Chevening scholarship applicants must not have a British or
dual British citizenship
Applicants must not have received UK Government scholarship
funding including Chevening within the last five years. Only be eligible to
apply for Chevening after a period of 5 years upon completion of your first UK
funding scholarship.
Must not be an employer, a former employee, or relative of an
employee of Her Majesty’s Government within the last 2 years from the opening of
Chevening applications( it also includes British embassies / High commissions,
the Departments for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy, department for
international trade, the ministry of defense and home office or staff of the
association of commonwealth universities.
Chevening scholarship Packages
Owing to the fact that Chevening scholarships are fully funded,
your award includes the following:
- University tuition fees
- monthly stipend
- Travel cost to and from the United Kingdom
- Arrival allowance
- Home departure allowance
- Cost of one visa application
- Travel grant to attend Chevening events in the United
Kingdom
How to Apply
You can apply for the Chevening scholarship program to study in
the United Kingdom, known as the home of leading universities here
Eligible courses
You will need to choose three different master's courses.
These can be three different courses at the same university or three similar
courses at up to three universities.
For you to be eligible, you must choose a full-time course
Must start in the autumn term ( usually September/ October)
Taught masters that are not research-focused Mres program
Leading to a master's degree qualification
Based in the united kingdom
Courses cannot be part-time
Courses must be on-campus learning
Must not be less than 9 months duration
Duration of courses must not exceed 12 months
Expected to learn with more than one month of study school the United Kingdom
Chevening Application deadline
Selection of Chevening scholars takes a minimum of 8 months
from the application deadline to when applicants are conditionally selected for
an award
The scholarship opens on 2 August 2022 and Closes on 1 November 2022
